What I love about Plein Air Washington Artists is that we are a community and for many of us, a family, made up of people from diverse backgrounds who love making art and collecting art.
Olga Bolgar has been a member of PAWA for about 3 years. She belongs to a community within our larger community of classically trained Russian artists.
Olga's art journey in her own words:
"Hello! I'm an artist. I had a professional education in my native country Russia. I graduated from the Art College in Yaroslavl. I currently live and work in the Seattle area. My sphere of interest as an artist are people and everything connected to them: figure, portrait, interiors and cityscapes.
Since the pandemic does not allow me to paint portraits and figures from life on a permanent basis, I am more involved in painting urban landscapes. Whenever I have time, I take my easel and go to downtown Issaquah, which is closest to me, and paint the streets, small cafes, restaurants, and whatever I find interesting.
When lock down happened, I thought it is a good opportunity to think about who I am in this world, what I am doing; why. Time to put the puzzle of random thoughts together and express them, so I started to devote more time to compose the paintings. They are usually dedicated to my life experience, finding myself in a complex world, thinking about my path as an artist."
I have met Olga a few times painting on location and at our fall and spring meeting/paint-ins in Edmonds. It has been a lot of fun getting to know her better by researching the website and browsing Facebook for pictures. One of the great perks of this job! If you are an Advertising Member of PAWA and would like to be spotlighted in this blog, let me or Karen know and I will contact you! (robinweiss@eartlink.net)
