“The Journey” closes with a festive artist’s reception

Byline: Jane Wallis
After a two month run during the holiday season, our PAWA Exhibit "The Journey" closed on January 26 with a festive artist's reception, a second celebration of our member’s artistic accomplishments and one last chance to see the 85 paintings selected for the show.  Artists enjoyed refreshments of wine and snacks while visiting with fellow artist, and voting for People's Choice

At 4:00 President Karen Bakke shared information about next year’s show theme "Structural Elements" as well as some PAWA events for 2019.

Our show chairperson Jane Wallis announced the People’s Choice Award winner Debbie Horne, in addition Jane announced the names of artists who also received votes for this coveted award.

This reception is especially for the artists and their friends and families.  It is intended to provide some special moments to discuss shared experiences and ideas on art materials and techniques as well as to present the People’s Choice Award. In other words, it is an artist’s art celebration culminating in artwork being removed from the walls at the end of the two hour reception.

Next year the plan is to hold this closing reception from 2 to 4 PM (instead of 3 to 5 PM) with painting removal after 4 PM.  We are hoping artists will take advantage of this social opportunity and remove their work only at the assigned time.
